After several discussions with contractors, Facebook polling, and individual research, we decided to remove the wallpaper and paint (rather than demo and reskim with new wall board, skim over existing wallpaper, or mud over existing wallpaper). The steamer we rented was a bust. A simple mix of vinegar and water spayed on, five-minute wait, and scrapey-scrapey. Fairly easy actually, considering the multiple layers and qualities of paper and glue used since 1951.

This shit is CONTACT paper!! Harder to remove from the wall than you think:
